The banners will be displayed from Oct. 5 through November, according to a release from the city.
There are 19 homeless veterans in the Oceanside and Comox Valley regions — about 17 per cent are women, according to Sgt. Bill Webb (retired).
In 1968, while serving in the Canadian Armed Forces in Lahr, Germany, Corporal Jim Enright was tortured by Canadian Military Police. His severe injuries crippled him for life.
The banners will be displayed from Oct. 13 through November along Highway 19A between McMillan and McVickers streets.
