There has been no scheduled service at Qualicum Beach airport since April 2020 and Iskwew Air said it found overwhelming interest after consulting with residents in June.
One third of respondents said they would take the flight at least four times per year, while 29 per cent said they would fly one to three times in a year.
Kiu Yick Trading Co. Ltd. imported 13 boxes of silky shark fins, weighing about 434 kg. Environment and Climate Change Canada estimated the boxes could represent up to 3,185 individual sharks.
The ship will be built at Seaspan Shipyards in North Vancouver and will bring significant job and economic benefits to B.C., according to the province.
