Traffic

Work will be ongoing between 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays and traffic will be single lane in two sections along Highway 19A near Hemsworth Road and the Rodway Trail.
Residents in the area of Despard Avenue and Alberni Highway, Craig Street north of Despard, Hamilton Avenue and Trill Drive should expect a noticeable drop in water pressure between 11:30 p.m. on March 21 until 5:30 p.m. on March 24.
The installation will affect traffic in both directions on Memorial Avenue, close to the Town of Qualicum Beach. The work will be done between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Feb. 9–11.
Oceanside RCMP dealt with 103 traffic-related complaints in November.
Qualicum Beach’s Memorial Roundabout will open to traffic tomorrow (Dec. 2) after 10 months of work.
Garry Young, who lives in the town’s Chartwell subdivision, presented a petition with 556 signatures from neighbourhood residents during council’s Oct. 6 regular meeting.
The proposed four-way stop sign’s effects on the intersection at Despard and Moilliet will be monitored by staff for six months and reported back to council.
City staff recommendations were based on the city’s traffic safety review of the area, which found no clearly defined problems at the intersection.
City staff will meet with several School District 69 board members next week to discuss safety concerns at an intersection where a student was struck by a vehicle in November.
