State of emergency

The provincial state of emergency will remain in place until midnight on Nov. 30.
About 17,775 people have been evacuated due to impacts from the flooding in B.C., with 5,918 properties on evacuation order and 3,632 properties on evacuation alert.
The RDN Emergency Call Centre is open again today until 4:30 p.m. to answer questions regarding flooding in the region at 250-390-0940.
Cooler seasonal weather and precipitation, combined with the hard work of firefighters from B.C., Canada and abroad to contain and extinguish fires, means the province can return to a standard emergency response.
“This declaration will address the potential of a mass evacuation scenario,” said Mike Farnworth, minister of public safety and solicitor general.
