The RDN said it will offer free drop off service at the Church Road Transfer Station in Parksville and the Regional Landfill because of the extended pickup delays.
The city said its priority, during and after a snowfall, is to clear major arterial streets (such as Highway 19A and Alberni Highway), as well as access to emergency services.
Areas near the water could see between 5-15 cm and residents further inland could see up to 25 cm today. The snow is expected to fall through the afternoon, according to Environment Canada.
