A full return to school for K-12 students will be delayed until Jan. 10 to give public health and schools time to adapt to the impacts of the Omicron variant.
Peter Jory will replace Dr. Keven Elder as superintendent of schools and chief executive officer. Jory’s appointment coincides with Elder retiring and he will assume his new role on August first this year.
City staff will meet with several School District 69 board members next week to discuss safety concerns at an intersection where a student was struck by a vehicle in November.
The number of students accessing meal programs in the Nanaimo-Ladysmith school district has nearly doubled since March, but the organizers said they are not sure the pandemic is completely responsible.
