Council will meet to discuss potential sites, budget and timelines for the proposed Parksville Aquatic and Recreation Centre during a committee of the whole meeting at 1 p.m. on Feb. 16.
Here are some of the most prominent and impactful stories we reported on in 2021 (in no particular order).
A public engagement team will host the virtual listening session via Zoom on Sept. 29 from 6–7 p.m.
The committee also carried a motion to continue project planning with a goal to begin the expansion in 2023.
The city said the proposed site at the end of Despard Avenue is not located on wetlands and, although there are 90 acres of wetland to the north, it said it does not expect the project to impact the area.
“This is Parksville’s largest project to date and will provide amenities, programs, services and a social gathering space for seniors and young families for years to come,” said Mayor Ed Mayne.
