Victims received phone calls from individuals impersonating BC Hydro and were told their accounts required immediate payments, according to RCMP.
RCMP are concerned about an increase in the production and distribution of child pornography in Nanaimo, according to Insp. Lisa Fletcher. “We’ve reached a five year high on the number of files we have involving child pornography and it’s just heart-wrenching,” said Fletcher, who presented a report to city council on Nov. 2.
Two fires set in stairwells of a Nanaimo apartment building have been deemed arson by RCMP.
Nanaimo RCMP has arrested a man for spray painting a police vehicle. The incident began when an officer responded to an unrelated report of spray painting at a Tim Hortons located on Wallace St. on Oct. 25.
RCMP responded to calls varying from an axe-wielding man in Maffeo Sutton to garage break-ins and a drive-thru hot coffee assault.
