The city said the proposed site at the end of Despard Avenue is not located on wetlands and, although there are 90 acres of wetland to the north, it said it does not expect the project to impact the area.
The rallies will be held in the same place every Friday at 10 a.m., according to Sierra Club BC.
“Calling for the government to end all old growth logging goes far beyond the narrative around Fairy Creek and it will leave many rural towns destitute. In many rural communities forestry is all they have.”
