The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) is asking for public assistance as it investigates a homicide that occurred earlier this week in Bowser.

Police say Luciano Mariani, 43, of no fixed address, has been charged in connection with the death of a woman in Bowser.

The BC Coroners Service is also conducting an investigation into the unexpected death, RCMP said.

Officers found a deceased man when they responded to a residence for a welfare check around 3 p.m. on Aug. 12.

The body of 58-year-old Randell Charles Thomas was found in some bushes close to a walking trail near Tamara Drive on March 31, according to RCMP.
