“No one wanted to mention how many herring came back this year. There can never be a good news story,” said Josh Young, gillnet representative on the Herring Industry Advisory Board.

“It’s a struggle in all sorts of fisheries to keep going and it’s really disappointing that someone has done this,” said Josh Young, herring industry advisory board gillnet representative.

“It was really disappointing. I can’t say exactly how many herring were there, I am not really sure but it was about a 30 by 30 foot area,” said Rebecca Benjamin-Carey, campaigner for Conservancy Hornby Island.
