ICBC claims for catalytic converter thefts in B.C. climbed from 89 in 2017 to 1,953 in 2021. Claim costs for catalytic converters during the same time increased from $356,950 to $4,059,081.
B.C.’s civil forfeiture program is responding to what the provincial government calls “disturbing crime trends” by going after several tools linked to dangerous activities in the drug trade.
During this time period the Oceanside RCMP said it received 294 complaints.
During this time period the Oceanside RCMP said it received 326 complaints, including industrial lawn mowers and trimmer found on Church Road in Parksville.
A Lake Cowichan officer pulled the suspect over, who was driving a stolen truck. The officer entered the passenger side of the truck to arrest the driver, but the man fled on foot.
During this time period the Oceanside RCMP said it received 320 complaints, including illegal garbage dumping, stolen catalytic converters and vandalism.
During this time period the Oceanside RCMP said it received 295 complaints, including stolen and found bicycles.  
During this time period the Oceanside RCMP said it received 278 complaints, including a motorhome break-in and a person found sleeping in an unlocked vehicle.
During this time period the Oceanside RCMP said it received 277 complaints, including a stolen dirt bike, prowlers and batteries stolen from an electric road sign.
