Parksville Volunteer Fire Department will host a charity carwash on April 30 to support the BC Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund.
Eight Parksville and Comox Valley retirees will tackle the 10 km Virtual Vancouver Sun Run this month to raise funds to put Kenyan students through high school, where tuition is not free.
Walkers, runners and wheelchair users can sign up as individuals or teams and participate at a location and day of their choice from April 15–24.
“It gives you a better perspective on what is important,” said Dick Glassford, a volunteer KEEF board member who lives in Parksville.
“We’d known a lot of very low-income parents and we came from low income parents as well,” said Cheryl Cote. “We know what Christmases were like for the kids, but we also get what it’s like for the parents.”
Team spots are now all filled, but sponsorships and donations are still welcome, according to a media release from the resort.
