One proposed amendment would remove the default requirement for local governments to hold public hearings for zoning bylaw amendments that are consistent with the official community plan.
The city said anyone who wishes to speak at the public hearing must register in advance by calling its corporate officer or deputy corporate officer, or email administration@parksville.ca. The hearing will be streamed live on July 19 at 3 p.m.
The Qualicum Beach project, which is a partnership between the province and the Qualicum Parksville Kiwanis Housing Society, is one of six on the island to receive funding.
“For too long, hard-working middle-income families have been priced out of the housing market and the pandemic pushed prices even higher,” said Premier John Horgan.
