Residents of French Creek are still waiting six months after the Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) voted to take action to improve the quality of the Sandpiper subdivision’s drinking water.

The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) awarded a $1.6 million construction tender for a Meadowood Community Centre.
The project will total 62 residential units at 431 College Road. The developer wants to demolish the Qualicum College building and build a replica in its place.
When emergency crews arrived on scene around 3:45 p.m., the building was engulfed in flames, according to Nick Acciavatti, Dashwood fire chief.
The project, Benchmark, Inspired by the Wait, is designed to “encourage people to sit and contemplate, be at peace and perhaps even be…inspired by the wait,” according to the chamber of commerce.
“Our protection area lacks hydrants, making us reliant on water shuttle from local departments, as well as our own water tenders,” the department said.
Oceanside RCMP are looking for the owner of a blue and white windsurf board that was found in Qualicum Beach.
