City of Nanaimo creates new voting record tool

The City of Nanaimo has made it easier for residents to track councillors votes. The new council voting record dashboard allows users to quickly check how councillors voted on motions going back to July 2020, rather than manually searching through meeting minutes.

Nanaimo RCMP investigating stolen excavator incident

Police said the owner believes the theft my have occurred between Nov. 12 and 14. The excavator is operated with a punch pad and once started, it could have easily been driven onto a nearby logging road, then transported away by a flat deck or other means, according to RCMP.

RDN emergency fire calls will soon be answered in Surrey

Emergency fire calls in the Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) will soon be answered in Surrey, rather than Nanaimo. The RDN and the City of Nanaimo made the decision because of high costs of upgrading to the new Next Generation 911 platform. The move will save an estimated $3.5 million over five years, according to the RDN.
