Two people are in police custody after an investigation related to an armed home invasion in a rural area north of Qualicum Beach.

RCMP were called to a residence early in the morning of March 10 after the occupant was reportedly confined and threatened with a firearm, according to an Oceanside RCMP media release.

The suspects, who were known to the victim, stole various items, including the victim’s vehicle.

An investigation conducted by Oceanside RCMP with assistance from Nanaimo RCMP, Forensic Identification Services and the RCMP Emergency Response Team led to the two arrests in Nanaimo on March 10.

A search warrant executed on March 11 resulted in officers seizing a firearm, believed to have been used during the offence, according to police. RCMP also recovered some of the victim’s stolen property, including the vehicle.

Both appeared in court and remain in police custody.

“The investigation into this incident is ongoing as investigators believe there may have been other people present during this incident assisting the two known suspects,” said Sgt. Shane Worth of the Oceanside RCMP. “If anyone has any information about this incident, please contact Oceanside RCMP at (250) 248-6111.”
