Water main work to affect 300 Parksville households next week

About 300 Parksville households can expect a drop in water pressure next week while contractors undertake a water main tie-in.

Work at a development site on the corner of Despard Avenue and Moilliet Street will affect residents the area of Despard Avenue and Alberni Highway, Craig Street north of Despard, Hamilton Avenue and Trill Drive between 11:30 p.m. on March 21 until 5:30 p.m. on March 24, according to the City of Parksville.

The utility work will affect households in the following areas:

-Despard Avenue West (between Craig Street and the Alberni Highway)

-Alberni Highway (on the east side only, between Despard Avenue and Moss Avenue)

-Craig Street (between Meridian Way and Hamilton Avenue)

-Butler Avenue (between Craig Street and Corfield Street)

-Hamilton Avenue (all properties)

-Trill Drive (all properties)

-Corfield Street (Hamilton Avenue up to and including 500 Corfield Street)

There will be single-lane alternating traffic near the intersecting streets on Despard Avenue and Moilliet Street. Traffic control personnel will direct traffic flow, according to the city.
