A Nanaimo woman has been charged with first degree murder after a two year investigation into the disappearance of 32-year-old Sidney Mantee.
Paris Laroche, 26, was also charged with Indignity to Human Remains, according to an RCMP media release. She was arrested on March 9 and is scheduled to appear in Nanaimo Provincial Court today (March 10).
“The investigation required significant time and police resources. In the weeks and months following Mantee’s disappearance, investigators exhaustively searched several locations and followed up on dozens of tips in order to gather evidence related to the homicide,” reads an RCMP media release.
Mantee had not seen his family, who reside in Saskatchewan, since March 2020, according to police.
A June 2016 Facebook post by Laroche indicated she and Mantee were in a relationship.
Police said because the matter is before the courts, no further information will be released.
