A Nanaimo senior has reached out to RCMP in hopes of tracking down an envelope, containing thousands of dollars, he may have lost during a taxi ride.

The 71-year-old man told RCMP he withdrew cash from his bank and placed the envelope in one of his jacket pockets on March 3, according to a Nanaimo RCMP media release.

He took several taxis on March 3 and March 4 and called both taxi companies with no success.

“The victim realizes it’s a shot in the dark, but he is hoping that a Good Samaritan may have found his money and will do the right thing and turn it in to the local RCMP detachment,” said Const. Gary O’Brien.

Anyone with information on the lost money can call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345 and quote file #2022-7936.
