Thieves make off with vehicle’s exhaust system — Oceanside Crime Report Feb 21–27

During this time period the Oceanside RCMP received 221 complaints, including a Canada Post box broken into in the Qualicum Beach area. Mail believed to have been stolen in this incident has since been recovered and police are continuing with the investigation.

Theft

-A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 2700 block of Island Highway West, Qualicum Beach, on Feb. 22.

-A Stihl model MS170 chainsaw was reported stolen from the back of a vehicle in the 2300 block of Island Highway East, Nanoose Bay, on Feb. 22.

-The exhaust system was reported stolen from a vehicle left on Highway 19 near the Whiskey Creek Bridge, on Feb. 23. Fuel was also noted missing.

-BC plate DV878G was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 900 block of Kasba Circle, Parksville, on Feb. 23. 

-A Canada Post mailbox was forced open and mail reported stolen on Meadowood Way, Qualicum Beach, on Feb. 23.  Mail believed to have been stolen in this incident has since been recovered and police are continuing with the investigation.

-A counterfeit US $1 bill, serial L79626959H, was reported received by a local business on Feb. 23. 

-BC plate CB640C was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 200 block of Barclay Crescent, Parksville on Feb. 24. The validation sticker was recovered in North Cowichan.

-BC plates CJ895P were reported stolen and replaced with two mismatching plates on a vehicle in the 500 block of Panorama Place, Parksville, on Feb. 25.

-A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 900 block of Coombs Road, Coombs, on Feb. 26. 

Vandalism

-A vehicle was vandalized in the 100 block of McCarter Street, Parksville, on Feb. 22. A vehicle window was noted broken.

-The office of MP Gord Johns was vandalized in Parksville, on Feb. 22.

-A vehicle was reported vandalized when air was let out of the front tires in the 200 block of Seacroft Road, Qualicum Beach, on Feb. 22. 

-A motorcycle was reported vandalized in the 2400 block of Island Highway East, Nanoose Bay, on Feb. 23. The speedometer and seat were noted damaged as well as fuel siphoned.

Break-ins

-A storage container forced entry was reported in the 1000 block of Herring Gull Way, Parksville, on Feb. 22. Locks were noted cut but nothing reported missing.

-Three utility trailers were reported to have had their locks cut in the 200 block of Corfield Street north, Parksville, on Feb. 27. Bolt cutters were seized in the area.

Prowler

-A day-time prowler was reported in the 200 block of Dunbar Way, Parksville, on Feb. 21.

-A day-time prowler was reported in the 1000 block of Island Highway West, Parksville, on Feb. 22.

-A day-time prowler was reported in the 300 block of Hall Road, Qualicum Beach, on Feb. 22.

Found – Contact Oceanside RCMP during regular business hours to claim.

-A black Monster brand backpack including contents was found in the 100 block of Pym 
Street North, Parkville on Feb. 23.

-A large industrial metal four-wheel cart was found in the 800 block of Aberdeen Drive, Parksville, on Feb. 26.
