Nanaimo RCMP are investigating a pair of recent unusual thefts.

Three scooters were reported stolen from Oak Tree Manor retirement home’s garage on Jan. 27. It appears the suspect tampered with the garage door opener to gain access, according to a Nanaimo RCMP media release.

Police said officers were able to obtain details for two of the scooters. One is a Shock Rider Trail Blazer Model 889SLSE, while the other was a Red Shock Rider Model 889SL, with serial number 1893C64A0014. The Red Shock Rider also had two large hooks on the back for carrying groceries.

RCMP believe the theft occurred some time between 2 p.m. on Jan. 24 and 2 p.m. on Jan. 25. The sign was padlocked to a concrete base, which police said was also removed.

Anyone with information on either of the incidents can call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
