A report of a suspicious vehicle led to Oceanside RCMP seizing crack cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, weigh scales and cash.

Police were alerted when a Parksville resident noticed someone passed out in the driver’s seat, on the afternoon of Jan. 29, according to a media release by RCMP. The responding officer noticed drugs were visible in the vehicle and arrested the driver.

The driver was subsequently released from custody and a fulsome report will be forwarded to the Public Prosecution Service of Canada for charge approval, according to RCMP.

“The packaging and quantity of the seized suspected drugs suggests they were intended for sale,” said Sgt. Shane Worth. “This is another reminder that reporting suspicious occurrences to police is helpful in keeping our community safe and the Oceanside RCMP thanks citizens for continuing to report these types of occurrences.”
