The Oceanside Community Track project is $9,000 closer to its fundraising goal thanks to a successful silent auction in December.
“The success of this auction shows the incredible support behind this new track and we are very grateful to all local businesses who donated, as well as everyone in the community who collectively made over 500 bids,” said Sarah Russick, auction organizer.
The event was well supported by both local businesses, organizations and the community including Tigh-Na-Mara, Arrowsmith Brewing, Island Marine Adventures Tour, Wolf Brewery, Qualicum Pharmasave, Misguided Spirits Distillery, Water’s Edge Shoreline Suites, Soak Essentials, Springford Farms, Parkswest and Loveshack Libations Brewery.
The $1.5 million project still needs $680,000 of funding. The track fundraising committee said it is keen to hear from businesses able to make direct donations of $25,000 to $50,000.
“We’re reaching out to local businesses and would also love to hear from philanthropists who would consider making a sizeable donation to help get this track across the finish line, and help create a legacy for everyone in our community for years to come,” said Rudy Terpstra, head of the Track Steering Committee.
Individuals and businesses interested can donate directly via the project’s website or by emailing fundraising@oceansidecommunitytrack.ca.
