British Columbians can now use the new WorkBC app to look for job opportunities.

The app lets users explore career options, access training opportunities such as trade certification and communicate securely with employment counsellors, according to a media release by the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction.

“Approximately 80,000 British Columbians use WorkBC services annually,” said Nicholas Simons, minister of social development and poverty reduction. “The new WorkBC app will make it easier for individuals looking for employment or career assistance to get the services they need, including assistive technology, financial supports and career opportunities, from their Android or iOS phones or tablets.”

Users can download the app from Google Play or the App Store and sign in with the BC Services Card app or a Basic BCeID account.

The app was developed in response to clients and service providers who asked for a faster, easier way to access WorkBC’s employment services online.

WorkBC Employment Services is the largest network of employment providers in the province and provides services to support British Columbians in finding good jobs, according to the ministry.

Almost 23,000 apprentices have participated in the WorkBC Apprentice Services program since April 2019, with approximately 22,000 completing a level of apprentice training. Around 3,200 clients have been served by the WorkBC Assistive Technology Services program, according to the release.
