Parksville’s mayor has proclaimed Feb. 14–20 Chamber of Commerce week.

Chamber of Commerce Week recognizes the contributions chambers make to communities across the province and is an opportunity for chambers to showcase their work on behalf of business communities, according to a media release by the city.

“The Chamber network and the support provided by the Parksville Chamber is more important than ever as our businesses continue to navigate the extraordinary circumstances and difficult challenges of operating during a pandemic,” said Mayor Ed Mayne. “The Parksville Chamber, as an integral part of our community, continues to demonstrate the good work they do for Parksville businesses.”

Each year, Parksville Chamber members dedicate many volunteer hours in service to local businesses and the wider community, according to the city.

“A strong local business community is a key driver of economic prosperity, creating jobs and opportunities for residents and supporting community growth. Chambers provide a place for entrepreneurs to share ideas about what’s working for their business,” reads the release.

WHEREAS a strong local business community is a key driver of our local economic prosperity; and

WHEREAS a strong local business community creates jobs and opportunities for residents of the City of Parksville and supports community growth; and

WHEREAS The Parksville and District Chamber of Commerce is a business organization dedicated to strengthening The City of Parksville’s business community and helping our city to thrive; and

WHEREAS every year, members of the Parksville and District Chamber of Commerce dedicate countless volunteer hours in service to our local businesses and community; and

NOW, THEREFORE, I Ed Mayne, Mayor of the City of Parksville, do hereby proclaim February 14 to 20, 2022, as “Chamber of Commerce Week” in the City of Parksville.
