Parksville Council is hoping for some public feedback on the city’s financial planning process ahead of budget deliberation meetings in March.

Residents can complete a short online survey to help council better understand where people would like to see funds spent. The input will help to inform the city’s 2022 municipal budget and 2022-2026 financial plan, according to a media release from the city.

“The city strives to maintain quality programs and services for our residents and keep taxes affordable for businesses and homeowners,” reads the release.

In 2019, council identified its five strategic plan priority areas as housing, recreation, healthcare, economic development and community safety.

The survey, available online until Feb. 28, may be accessed from the city’s website and paper copies of the survey can be found at City Hall.

Since public attendance at council meetings is limited, the city said it will provide other options for engagement:

  • Comments and questions may be emailed at any time to council@parksville.ca and will form part of the public record;

  • Learn about the budget process and ask questions on Let’s Talk Parksville. Residents can get involved by sharing your ideas and comments. Input will form part of the public record and will be provided to council;

  • All council budget deliberation meetings in March will be streamed live from the city’s website and archived.
