After winning a $1 million prize, a Duncan resident checked with his wife multiple times to be sure he understood which dream car she had picked out.

“I asked if she was sure, that there’s also Audis and BMWs,” said Michael Wadsworth. “She said ‘nope, I want a Volvo.’”

Wadsworth said the Jan. 19 Lotto 6/49 win was a complete shock to him.

“It’s funny, because I always thought that one day I would log in to my PlayNow.com account to check my lottery tickets and see a great big number,” he said. “I brought my breakfast into the living room, sat down in my chair, was checking my e-mails and I almost fell out of the chair when I saw the prize.”

Car purchase aside, Wadsworth said he would like to take his family on a vacation to Maui when the time is right.

B.C. lottery players redeemed over $99 million in prizes from Lotto 6/49 in 2021, according to BCLC.
