Nanaimo RCMP is looking for a man wanted for an assault during a home invasion.

Dayton Anderson, 32, allegedly entered a home and assaulted a 52-year-old occupant in October 2021, according to a media release from Nanaimo RCMP.

The victim told police he first saw the Anderson walking through his home. When he went to confront him, Anderson punched him in the face, knocking him off the sun deck. The victim suffered a split lip but did not require medical attention, according to RCMP.

The man managed to take several pictures of Anderson before the suspect fled. The photos circulated to the local block watch program and within minutes, the unknown person was positively identified. The next day Anderson was located and arrested by police.

Warrants were issued for Anderson’s arrest after he failed to appear in court on the break and enter and assault charges.

Anderson is 5 ft. 10, 175 lbs with brown hair and blue eyes. The picture provided is recent. He should be considered violent and should not be approached. Anyone who sees Anderson can call 911 or the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
