Island Health declares COVID-19 outbreak at Nanaimo long-term care home

Nine COVID-19 cases in residents have been identified at a Nanaimo long-term care home, according to a media release from Island Health.

The health authority said the outbreak at Dufferin Place is limited to the facility’s Cedar unit.

Two outbreaks at Kiwanis Village Lodge and Eden Gardens long-term care home, both in Nanaimo, are still listed as active on Island Health’s website.

It also declared a new COVID-19 outbreak at Beacon Hill Villa long-term care home in Victoria, where three residents tested positive for the virus. The outbreak declaration is limited to the first floor of the home at this time.
