A warmer and wetter weather pattern is on the way for east Vancouver Island and it could bring localized flooding and high stream levels.
The region can expect heavy rain beginning Tuesday afternoon and continuing through Wednesday night, according to an Environment Canada alert.
“A strong southwest flow will develop on Tuesday and result in an atmospheric river impacting the south coast. Heavy rain will develop later Tuesday as the first of several systems embedded in the flow arrives,” reads the alert.
The heavy rain is likely to redevelop at times Wednesday night, as other systems arrive, according to Environment Canada.
Some snowmelt at low levels will contribute to runoff which may result in high stream levels and localized flooding.
