Heavy snowfall has prompted Canada Post to issue a red alert and announce it will not make deliveries on Vancouver Island today (Jan. 6).
Canada Post said, in the alert, a winter storm has made mail delivery unsafe.
“The safety of our employees is our number one priority,” the alert reads. “We encourage customers to clear the snow and ice from their walkways, stairs and driveways, to ensure safe access to the front door for both their visitors, as well as their mail carriers, when service resumes. “
Canada Post did not provide a date, but said delivery will resume “once it is deemed safe to do so.”
Mail delivery was also suspended in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
