East Vancouver Island could see more snow and treacherous road conditions today (Jan. 4).

Environment Canada has forecast heavy convective snow flurries with sudden reduction in visibility through this afternoon. Rapid accumulation of snow on surfaces such as roads and walkways is likely.

Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast remain under the influence of an unstable airmass, according to an Environment Canada weather alert.

“Be prepared for sudden changes in road condition and sudden reduction in visibility in heavy snow. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance,” reads the alert.
