The Nanaimo RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance locating a man wanted for possessing stolen property under $5000 and driving while prohibited.

The allegations against Robert Silva, 41, stem from a March 2021 incident in which he allegedly stole a vehicle from downtown Nanaimo and hours later was found by police in the vehicle in the Nanaimo Lakes Road area. He was ordered to get out of the vehicle, but refused, according to a Nanaimo RCMP media release.

Silva was removed from the vehicle by a police service dog and, after a trip to the hospital for treatment of “superficial” abrasions from the dog, he was taken to the RCMP detachment, the release said.

Silva was later released with a court date of June 23, which he did not attend and police issued warrants for his arrest.

Silva is 5 ft. 9, 180 lbs with brown hair and brown eyes. The picture above is recent. He has a tattoo on his right forearm of a demon with rings and one of a dragon on his left forearm.

Anyone with information on Silva’s location, can call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345 and quote file #2021-10338.
