BC Ferries cancels sailings due to staffing issue

Multiple sailings on the Tsawwassen-Swartz Bay route were cancelled today (Dec. 30) due to a lack of staff, BC Ferries has announced.

BC Ferries said a specific number of crew members is required by Transport Canada to ensure the safety of passengers in case of an emergency.

The following sailings on the Coastal Renaissance were cancelled:


-12 p.m. departing Tsawwassen
-2 p.m. departing Swartz Bay
-4 p.m. departing Tsawwassen
-6 p.m. departing Swartz Bay

Customers with bookings will have their bookings cancelled and reservation fees refunded. Travel will revert to standby basis, according to BC Ferries.
