The Oceanside area could see even more snow tonight (Dec. 29).

Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for east Vancouver Island, with accumulations of five to 10 cm expected. The snow is forecast to start tonight and continue into Thursday morning.

“A storm system will move across the south coast of B.C. tonight. With ample cold air in place, this system will result in widespread snow,” reads the Environment Canada alert.

Most regions will see close to five cm accumulate rapidly within three to six hours during the overnight hours when the snowfall will be most intense, according to Environment Canada.

Visibility may be impacted in heavy snow and quickly accumulating snow may make travel difficult.
