The extreme cold snap has temporarily removed a BC Ferries vessel from service and cancelled two crossings.

The Queen of New Westminster’s 10:15 a.m. departure from Tsawwassen and 12:45 p.m. departure from Duke Point have been cancelled today (Dec. 28), according to a service notice.

The vessel experienced frozen water pipes, washroom closures and unsafe conditions on the vehicle deck from the freezing weather, according to BC Ferries.

Environment Canada is forecasting a high of -4 C to a low of -7 C today.

Customers with bookings will have their bookings cancelled and reservation fees refunded, the service notice said.

No other sailings are affected as of Tuesday morning.
