Two people hospitalized after being stabbed in Nanaimo home

Latest Oceanside News

Two people were taken to hospital with serious stab wounds after being attacked in their home over the weekend.

The victims, both in their 60s, were treated for multiple injuries after calling 911 around 7:15 p.m. on Dec. 18, according to a Nanaimo RCMP media release.

The suspect, a man in his early 20s and known to the victims, fled the scene, but investigators tracked him to a residence on Boundary Crescent. He was arrested on several charges, including attempted murder, and remains in police custody, according to RCMP.

“Investigators are confident there are no other suspects involved and that this was an isolated incident not connected to the recent gun violence that has occurred in Nanaimo,” said Const. Gary O’Brien.

The home was secured overnight and examined by the Nanaimo RCMP Forensics Unit.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345, and quote file #2021-46614.
