The Oceanside local health area recorded 21 new COVID-19 cases last week, down from 27 cases reported the week prior.
Eighty-nine per cent of Oceanside residents over 12 have been given at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 86 per cent have received a second shot, according to the BC Centre for Disease Control’s (BC CDC) COVID-19 surveillance dashboard. The local health area leads the Island for third doses of the COVID-19 vaccine at 19 per cent of people 12 and older.
Island Health reported one new COVID-19-related death and 127 new cases today (Dec. 10). There are 564 active cases in the health authority, including 200 in the central Vancouver Island region.
Over the past 24 hours, three more people died of COVID-19 in B.C. — there was one death in Fraser Health and one in Vancouver Coastal Health, in addition to the death in the Island Health authority, according to a media release from the province.
B.C. recorded 437 new cases today (Dec. 10), bringing the active case number to 2,994, including 211 people in hospital, 72 of whom are in critical care.
Over 91 per cent (4,238,687) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 88.4 per cent (4,097,284) have received their second dose. 562,602 British Columbians (13 per cent) have received a third dose of COVID-19 vaccine, according to the province.
