Parksville council has approved a mixed commercial-residential development on Hirst Avenue.
The proposed three-storey building will include commercial space on the ground floor and eight residential units above, according to a report by Blaine Russell, the city’s director of community planning and building.
A development variance permit to allow the proposed building at 113 Hirst Ave to be up to 12.8 m tall was also granted.
The residential units will consist of two one-bedroom units, two units with one-bedroom and a den and four units with two-bedrooms and a den, according to the report.
The development and variance applications were submitted by Glenn Hill of dHK Architects Inc. on behalf of the owner, Departure Bay Construction Ltd.
Council approved the applications during its Dec. 6 regular meeting.
