The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) will host a disaster recovery webinar on Nov. 25 to assist residents and evacuees affected by the recent flooding.
The webinar will begin at 10 a.m. and inform residents about eligibility for the province’s Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) program, which is designed to help homeowners, tenants, small business owners and farm owners with uninsurable, essential losses to their properties.
It will also cover:
• Information from BC Housing on subsidized housing programs available to RDN residents directly affected by a disaster;
• Information from Island Health on returning home after a flood, including environmental concerns, health concerns and remediation;
• Resources to maintain mental wellbeing during a crisis and information on mental health support.
The RDN said more topics may be added to the agenda and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions during the webinar.
For those unable to attend, the webinar will be recorded and made available on the RDN’s flooding webpage.
Residents may also direct any disaster recovery related questions to emergencyservices@rdn.bc.ca.
