Qualicum Beach residents can share their thoughts on zoning changes to allow a proposed mixed-use development at 111 Fourth Ave West.

The town will hold a virtual public hearing at 10 a.m. on Dec. 8 regarding Bylaw No.580.129 2021, which, if passed, will change the zoning from Institutional 1 (P1) and Institutional 3 (P3) to Commercial 1 (C1) to permit a mixed-use development with ground floor commercial and nine residential units on the second storey. The ground floor commercial will consist of a grocery store, according to the town.

Anyone interested in speaking can register online, via email or by phone (250-738-2190).

Residents can attend the meeting in Town Hall’s council chamber. Participation will be electronically via Zoom, operated from the council chamber, according to the town.

Written submissions can be sent to the Town of Qualicum Beach by email at or by mail to #201 – 660 Primrose Street, Qualicum Beach, BC V9K 1S7, Attention: Planning. Submissions can also be made in-person at the same address between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Written submissions must be received before the close of the public hearing, according to the town.
