Oceanside records 39 weekly COVID-19 cases — COVID-19 update

The Oceanside local health area reported 39 new COVID-19 cases from Nov. 7-13, a slight increase from the 34 recorded the previous week.

Eighty-eight per cent of Oceanside residents over 12 have been given at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 85 per cent are fully vaccinated, according to the BC Centre for Disease Control’s (BC CDC) COVID-19 surveillance dashboard.

Island Health reported one death and 72 new COVID-19 cases today (Nov. 18). There are 349 active cases in the health authority, including 199 in the central Vancouver Island region.

Over the past 24 hours, nine more people died of COVID-19 in B.C. — five in Fraser Health, two in Northern Health, one in Interior Health and one in Island Health, according to a media release from the province. 

B.C. recorded 468 new cases, bringing the active case number to 3,345, including 355 people in hospital, 110 of whom are in critical care. 

Just under 91 per cent (4,207,832) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 87 per cent (4,030,851) have received their second dose, according to the province.
