The Regional District of Nanaimo’s (RDN) chair and vice-chair have been acclaimed for another one-year term.
Tyler Brown will begin his second term as chair of the RDN board. Vanessa Craig will begin her third term as vice-chair and continue to be responsible for the role of chair when Brown is unavailable, according to a release from the RDN.
“It is an honour to be acclaimed as the RDN chair by my fellow board members. I also appreciate the wonderful advice and guidance Vice-Chair Craig has given over the past year and will continue to provide this term,” Brown said. “We have a number of ambitious goals for the year ahead and together we will work with the best interests and needs of residents in mind to achieve them.”
The board acclaimed Brown and Craig during its inaugural meeting on Nov. 9, according to the RDN. Provincial legislation requires regional districts annually elect a chair and a vice-chair at the first meeting of the board after Nov. 1. The board is comprised of 19 elected officials representing four municipalities and seven electoral areas.
“I am pleased to have the opportunity to serve a third term as vice-chair and appreciate the confidence shown in me by the board. I look forward to continuing to serve RDN residents and to supporting Chair Brown in my capacity as vice-chair,” Craig said.
