Oceanside recorded 20 new COVID-19 cases last week — COVID-19 update

The Oceanside local health area recorded 20 new COVID-19 cases from Oct. 17–23, up from the 16 cases reported the week before.

Eighty-eight per cent of Oceanside residents over 12 have been given at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 83 per cent are fully vaccinated, according to the BC Centre for Disease Control’s (BC CDC) COVID-19 surveillance dashboard.

Island Health reported 114 new COVID-19 cases today (Oct. 28). There are 488 active cases in the health authority, including 298 in the central Vancouver Island region.

Over the past 24 hours, 10 more people died of COVID-19 in B.C. — four were in Fraser Health, four were in Interior Health and two were in Northern Health, according to a media release from the province. 

B.C. recorded 758 new cases, bringing the active case number to 4,961, including 434 people in hospital, 155 of whom are in critical care. 

Nearly 90 per cent (4,160,780) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 84.9 per cent (3,933,596) have received their second dose, according to the province.
