The Oceanside local health area recorded 16 new COVID-19 cases from Oct. 10–16, down significantly from the 26 cases reported the week before.
Eighty-seven per cent of Oceanside residents over 12 have been given at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 83 per cent are fully vaccinated, according to the BC Centre for Disease Control’s (BC CDC) COVID-19 surveillance dashboard.
Island Health reported 61 new COVID-19 cases today (Oct. 21). There are 431 active cases in the health authority, including 217 in the central Vancouver Island region.
Over the past 24 hours, four more people died of COVID-19 in B.C. — all were in Northern Health, according to a media release from the province.
B.C. recorded 715 new cases, bringing the active case number to 4,965, including 377 people in hospital, 136 of whom are in critical care.
Over 89 per cent (4,141,865) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 83.8 per cent (3,883,585) have received their second dose, according to the province.
