A small group of Oceanside residents marched from Springwood Park to Oceanside Health Centre to support health-care workers.
Duane Round organized the march, which began shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 18. He said he thought of the idea because he recently spent some time at the health centre and noticed many of the staff looked tired.
“I just felt so bad for the health workers there that I thought, there’s got to be some way to show them that we do care,” Round said.
The marchers walked to the back of the centre and spoke briefly with a few healthcare workers at the door. They tied their signs and balloons near the entrance so staff could see them on their way in and out.
“They’re there when we’re born, they’re there when we’re dying and all in between and we need to appreciate that before they’re not there for us anymore,” said Round.
