Oceanside weekly COVID-19 cases declining slowly — COVID-19 update

The Oceanside local health area recorded 10 new COVID-19 cases from Sept. 19–25, a minor decrease from the 13 cases reported the week before.

Eighty-six per cent of Oceanside residents over 12 have been given at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to the BC Centre for Disease Control’s (BC CDC) COVID-19 surveillance dashboard.

Island Health reported 56 new COVID-19 cases today (Oct. 1). There are 536 active cases in the health authority, including 214 in the central Vancouver Island region.

Over the past 24 hours, 11 more people died of COVID-19 in B.C. — four were in the Fraser Health region, six were in Interior Health and one was in Vancouver Coastal Health, according to a media release from the province. 

B.C. recorded 714 new cases, bringing the active case number to 6,317, including 328 people in hospital, 138 of whom are in critical care. 

Eighty-eight per cent (4,079,918) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 81.1 per cent (3,761,048) have received their second dose, according to the province.
