Nanaimo RCMP are looking for the driver and vehicle involved in a recent hit and run.

Police say a witness saw an older model grey Acura hit a vehicle parked on Harwell Road. The vehicle then backed up and drove off without stopping. The incident occurred around 6:20 p.m. on Sept. 1, according to RCMP.

The collision was loud enough that it drew the attention of a second caller. RCMP believe the Acura sustained front end damage.

“We need to speak with the driver of the Acura. Investigators believe the driver may not have realized the extent of the damage caused by the collision. Also, they may not be aware that by law, they are required to stop and report a collision with another motor vehicle,” said Const. Sheri Wade.

Anyone with information about the collision or the grey Acura can call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345 and quote file #2021-33112.
