Fires intentionally started in Parksville — Oceanside Crime Report Sept. 5–11

During this time period the Oceanside RCMP said it received 301 complaints, including 12 totes of hand tools stolen from a storage locker in Bowser.

Fires

-A fire was reported started next to a building in the 100 block of Middleton Avenue, Parksville on Sept. 7. 

-A fire was reported started next to a building in the 100 block of Hirst Avenue West, Parksville, on Sept. 10. 

Theft

-Firewood was reported stolen from a property in the 600 block of Forsyth Avenue, Parksville, on Sept. 7.

-A pellet gun was reported stolen from a residence in the 2700 block of Old Alberni Highway, Qualicum Beach, on Sept. 7.

-A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 3700 block of Fairwinds Drive, Nanoose Bay, on Sept. 8.

-A blue children’s Norco Storm 2.2 bicycle was reported stolen in the 100 block of Island Highway East, Parksville, on Sept. 8.

-A wallet was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 500 block of Hirst Avenue West, Parksville, on Sept. 11.

-Approximately 12 black totes of hand tools were reported stolen from a storage container in the 100 block of McColl Road, Bowser, on Sept. 11.

-An inflatable paddle board with a blue strip was reported stolen in the 600 block of Gaetjen Street, Parksville, on Sept. 11.

Vandalism 

-A vehicle was reported vandalized in the area of Alberni Highway and Bellevue Road, Parksville on Sept. 7.

-A vehicle was reported vandalized in the 600 block of Pym Street North, Parksville, on Sept. 8. The ignition was noted damaged.

-A vehicle was reported vandalized in the 600 block of Church Road, Parksville, on Sept. 8. The steering column was noted damaged.

-A Canada Post mailbox was reported vandalized in the area of Melrose Road and Alberni Highway, Qualicum, on Sept. 10. 

-A window was reported broken by a rock thrower in the 100 block of Island Highway West, Parksville on Sept. 11. A suspect was apprehended a short distance away. 

Break and enter

-A business break and enter was reported in the 400 block of Island Highway East, Parksville, on Sept. 8. A door was damaged and a large stainless steel tool chest is missing.

-A shed break and enter was reported in the 300 block of Craig Street, Parksville on Sept. 8.

Counterfeit currency

-A counterfeit Canadian $20 bill was received by a financial institution in Parksville, on Sept. 8.

Prowlers

-A prowler was reported in the area of Inland Island Highway and Horne Lake Road, Qualicum, on Sept. 9.

Found – Contact Oceanside RCMP during regular business hours to claim.

-A Jimmy Stykes brand inflatable paddle board was found in the area of Doehle Avenue and Temple Street, Parksville, on Sept. 10.

-A blue box full of fishing tackle was found in the area of Ermineskin Avenue and Banks Avenue, Parksville, on Sept. 11.
